ANM backs #Foodneedsafarmer

The Chief Executive of ANM Group, Grant Rogerson, has spoken out in support of those farmers from across Scotland heading to Edinburgh on 2nd November to back the NFUS #foodneedsafarmer campaign rally.

The Rally comes as the Scottish Government consults on the contents of the forthcoming Scottish Agriculture Bill, and in the wake of ANM issuing its “Farming and the Future” report, part of its Beyond 150 Campaign.

Grant Rogerson said:

“At ANM, we all share the frustration of farmers at the continued lack of direction in Scottish agricultural policy. As our recent report made clear, “the time for talk is over” and it is time for tangible action to back Scottish agriculture, and the irreplaceable contribution of Scotland’s farmers.

“I know that a significant number of our members will be at the rally, departing from Thainstone, and we want to confirm that our co-operative stands fullsquare behind them and their objectives.

“Government, and wider Scottish civic society, needs to recognise the rich tapestry that makes up Scottish agriculture, support investment to improve operations and further improve sustainability, and above all continue to support the suckler herd as a major contributor to a successful environment and food security policy.

“It is time to recognise that food needs a farmer!”
