PRIME CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (1st March 2012) 31 prime cattle.

Under 30 Month - Prime bullocks (five) averaged 193.3p (-2.7p)  and sold to 196p per kg and £1,332.80 gross for a 680kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle, and purchased by C Anderson, Dumfries.
Prime heifers (18) averaged 200.4p (+3.1p) and sold to 222p per kg and £1,398.60 gross for a 630kg Charolais from Cairncoullie, Glenkindie, and purchased by Simpson and Family Butcher Ltd, Bridge of Don.
Young bulls (three) averaged 152.2p (-0.8p) and sold to 157p per kg for a 910kg Aberdeen Angus and £1,497.45 gross for a 1,005kg Aberdeen Angus from Auchincrieve, Rothiemay.

30 to 48 Month - Heifers (four) averaged 161p (+0.7p)and sold to 187p per kg and £1,477.30 gross for a 790kg Simmental from South Blachrie, Fyvie.

OTM CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (1st March 2012) 138 OTM cattle.

Beef cows (118) achieved a record average of 150.9p (+3.3p) and sold to 192.3p per kg for a 585kg Saler from Meadow Park, Kirkwall and £1,415 gross for a 960kg British Blue from Michaelmuir Croft, Ythanbank. 
Dairy cows (16) averaged 137.3p and sold to 169.5p per kg and £1,195 gross for a 705kg Friesian from Berriedale Farms, South Ronaldsay. 
Farrow bulls (four) averaged 135.7p (+8.9p) and sold to 144p per kg for a 965kg Limousin from Hillhead of Auchmacleedie, Strichen and £1,670 gross for a 1,170kg Charolais from East Murkle, Murkle.

Old season lambs (2,009) averaged 195.4p per kg (-5.0p) and sold to 237.2p per kg for 39kg Texel crosses from Hallhill, Kinneff and £100 gross for 60kg Texel crosses for Daies, Wardhouse and for 58kg Continentals and 65kg Zwartbles from 20 Balmellie Street, Turriff.
Old season SQQ up to 45.5kg (1,145) averaged 204p per kg (-1.1p).
