Thainstone May Bull Sale Enjoys Excellent Trade

Pedigree bulls enjoyed excellent trading in the Aberdeen & Northern Marts May show and sale at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie today.

Bulls sold to a high of 6,800gns for a Limousin while Aberdeen-Angus reached 5,000gns with strong bidding both at the ringside and on-line.

Sale topper was the April 2010-born Limousin Buchaam Fourstar from father and son Charlie and Keith Ogg, Buchaam Farm, Strathdon. This son of the former Balmoral interbreed champion Ironstone Bomber was knocked out at 6,800gns to M Davidson & Son, Crichie, Inverurie.

The Oggs also had the second highest price of the day with their only other entry, the August 2010-born Buchaam Ferry, which fetched 5,200gns from J & D Laing, Mill of Kintocher, Craigievar, Alford.

The Aberdeen-Angus champion, the June 2010-born Strathinver Master Brigadier from Wendy Willox, Home Farm, Druminnor, Rhynie, fetched 5,000gns from A & J Adams, Eastfield of Monaltrie, Ballater.

Overall champion in the event, which was sponsored by Ardene House Vets, was Grant Morrison of A&A Morrison, Bush Farm, Keith, with the April 2010-born Muldearie Franco, which was sold for 4,500gns to T Riddoch, Greenloan, Glass, Huntly.

The Charolais champion was the September 2010-born Medi Fullback from Lynwyn Evans, Kinknockie, Mintlaw, which made 4,000gns from C & E Ingram, Drums, Newburgh, Ellon. Leading price in the Charolais class was 4,800gns for the July 2010-born Kinclune Fraser from Jock Wilson, Kinclune, Glenkindie, which sold to T & M Walker, Newton of Mountblairy, Banff.

Simmental champion was September 2010-born Islavale Bouncer from Stewart Stronach, Berryleys Farm, Grange, Keith, which made 4,200gns from Charles and Alison Webster, Ardhuncart Farm, Kildrummy, Alford.
